  1. WHAT IS SMS?
    Short Message Service (SMS) is a wireless messaging service on digital networks that allows the transmission of text messages of up to 140 characters to be sent and received via the network operator’s message center to your phone.

    Starcomms has a world standard messaging center (SMSC) with capability of sending and receiving SMS across different local and international (CDMA & GSM) networks based on interconnect agreements. Sending or receiving SMS is illustrated in the user manual of your handset.

    Subscribers on Starcomms network can now send and receive SMS from 537 networks in 215 countries including both GSM and CDMA networks.

  2. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO SEND A TEXT MESSAGE?
    It costs N7 each time to send a message to a starcomms phone and N12/SMS on any network that supports SMS and has an agreement with Starcomms). To receive message is free of cost.

  3. HOW DO I SEND SMS?
    To send local SMS, click on menu options on your mobile, select message, scroll to text message and select create message, then type your message body and send to the recipient. To send international SMS, subscriber scrolls to 'Write Message' and enters the message body. The code (+) (country code) (recipient’s mobile number). E.g. 00944162000000

  4. WHY CAN'T I SEND MESSAGES?
    There are several reasons why you may not be able to send a text message. It might be because you are trying to send a message to an analogue phone (only digital phones can send and receive test messages) or the number you are trying to send a message to is incorrect.Also, ensure that your send callback number is entered. To check this go into the menu options on your mobile and select message, message settings, select sending options and enter your mobile number.

  5. WHY CAN'T I RECEIVE MESSAGES?
    There are several reasons why you may not be able to receive a text message. It might be that your message inbox is filled with messages. Also, ensure that your send callback number is entered. To check this go into the menu options on your mobile and select message, message settings, select sending options and enter your mobile number.   6. WHAT IS DELIVERY MESSAGE?
    It informs you that your message has either been successfully delivered or not, to your recipient handset.
